Camp Hollis Alumni

Did you ever work at Camp Hollis? Were you once a camper there? If so, we want to hear from you?

Camp Hollis is approaching its 75th year of operation and plans are beginning to be made to honor the camp, its founders and the many people who gave their summer (and their hearts) to the camp program. Although the 75th anniversary will not happen until summer 2021, there’s plenty to be done!

Consider helping us in one or more of these ways:

• Jim Farfaglia, former camper, counselor, director and now president of the Friends of Camp Hollis will be writing a book about the history of the camp. Although Farfaglia helped publish a short pictorial of the camp’s origins, he is planning a full-length book to be published just before the 75th anniversary bash. “All of us alumni have memories of working at the camp,” Farfaglia stated. “Sharing our memories with each other helps rekindle the flames of our own remembrances. Consider jotting down your favorite Camp Hollis stories on paper or in an email and send them to me.”

• Donate any Camp Hollis memorabilia that you have. Old T-shirts, camp awards, painted rocks, arts & crafts projects, etc. would be great for our anniversary bash and to illustrate the book of Camp’s history. Contact Jim Farfaglia to see about donating these items.

• Join the Friends of Camp Hollis board. The board meets quarterly and works on ways to help Camp Hollis. Activities such as the Kids -N – Trucks event are created and carried out by board members. Special events at camp, offered during the spring and the fall, need help from the board’s members. Members also help by donating time to help landscape and “tidy up” the camp gardens.

• Considering volunteering some time to help with one of Camp’s special programs. Activities that happen annually on the campgrounds include Senior Camp (for people young at heart 55+), Rainbow of Hope Camp and community service days by SUNY Oswego college students.
